About Tigua Art:
The indigenous artists of Tigua are renowned for their colorful paintings depicting life in the highlands of rural Ecuador. Although the Kichwa people of the area decorated drums and masks for festivals and fiestas with simple figures and geometric patterns, their artists now stretch sheep hide over flat frames and depict history, festivals, legends, politics and traditions of their people.Their paintings still reflect the ancient traditions and reverence for nature that characterize their origins.
